Masking With Dies - A Blog Named Hero Challenge + My Favorite Hero

Hey folks!

It's time for a new challenge over on A BLOG NAMED HERO. The theme of this challenge is use your favorite Hero Arts Product. I don't have a single fave. I love all Hero Arts. The My Monthly Hero Kits and Add-Ons cover all that I love about Hero Arts. In today's video I talk about that and I show how I use the dies to create a mask and Copic color this lovely card!

I will have more details on the Challenge at the end of the posts so stay tuned!

You can watch the video on how I made my cards HERE. You can also click on the thumbnail link below.

If you've been following me, you'll know that I love the Hero Art MY MONTHLY HERO Kit. I love that there's always something different to look forward to Hero Arts doesn't always follow the seasons or the trends, but they kits are always fun to use. Plus they're packed with loads of good stuff and the value is excellent.

If you're not into having a subscription, Hero Arts always have add-ons to compliment their full kit. These you don't need a subscription for which is awesome!

Speaking of add-ons...For my card today, I'm using the HUMMINGBIRD Stamp Set from Hero Arts. This was an add-on for the FEBRUARY 2018 Kit. The Kit is still available, but this darling set sells out fast folks. Be sure to grab it when it's available. I will have thumbnail links below for the other add-ons so you can check those out as well.

I wanted to do some masking on my card. I started with a 4.25"x5.5" panel of Neenah SOLAR WHITE cardstock and I also cut down some Simon Says Stamp MASKING PAPER to the same dimensions. Then with a heart from the Hero Arts NESTING HEARTS INFINITY Dies, I die cut the center of the masking paper.

I talk more about this in the VIDEO.

I lined up the panel with the masking paper and lightly traced the inside of the heart with a pencil.

I stamped all of my images wit Hero Arts INTENSE BLACK Ink since I knew that I would be Copic Coloring my panel. I will have my color choices in the thumbnail links below.

Be sure to check out the VIDEO folks. I have some tips on how I color these images in. I also show I us approach all of the masking.

With the heart mask I made, I lined it up on my panel and ink blended Tim Holtz Distress Oxides in WILD HONEY and SPICED MARMALADE. I think Hero Arts BUTTER BAR and ORANGE SODA would be fab! I was just using what I already had out on my table.

When I started this card, I knew that I wanted to use the HUMMINGBIRD Stamp Set and I knew that I wanted to use the NESTING HEARTS INFINITY Dies, outside of that, I was just winging it. Truly. This was one of those cards, I simply went with whatever I had in from of me.

I splattered some Gold Shimmer Mist that was in the August 2017 My Monthly Hero Kit on the before I pulled off the masks. This kit is sold out, but Hero Arts has a WHITE IRIDESCENT SHIMMER Spray that would work great too!

To finish off my card, I added jewels that are in the RAINBOW SPARKLE Mix from Little Things by Lucy's Cards and Nuvo Aqua Shimmer CLEAR Glitter Gloss to the birds wings, tail and a lil bit on the body.

I also used some of the paper that was in the FEBRUARY Kit. This is a Stone Woodgrain Cardstock that only comes in the kit, but Hero Arts has WHITE Woodgrain Cardstock that's amazing!

  2. Just an FYI those are columbine flowers and the stamp image has no leaves those are still petals. Columbine is my favorite flower and I love your card but it was really hard on me watching you color those petals green. Power poppy recently made a columbine digi and it's beautiful they also have inspiration on there website for it. Just had to share in case you make future cards with this flower.
