Simon Says Stamp - If The Hat Fits + Tombow Dual Brush Pens

Hey folks!

I'm back today to share a fairly quick, but really fun card with card with you all! I just finished up a couple of days of the Winterhaven Stamp of Approval Release and I had a blast, but for my next project I wanted to focus on something a wee bit closer to the season we're currently in. Plus this technique can be used for sooo many type of images. Handy dandy right?
If you're interested in any of the products I've used, I have links (some affiliate links) throughout and at the end of the post. Click here to read my full disclosure policy.

Also. If you're interested in watching the video on how I made my card you can go HERE. You can also click on the thumbnail link below. Also if you don't see an image on the video link below, click it anyway, the video is there! I promise!

For my card today, I'm using the Simon Says Stamp If The Hat Fits Stamp and Die Set. These were available for the Simon Says Stamp STAMPtember Release. I mentioned in my video that may sold out. It's NOT! You can buy it by clicking HERE or on the thumbnail link below.

Masking ANYTHING is my favorite technique in cardmaking. For today's card, I thought I'd mask with Grumbacher Liquid Frisket and get out the Tombow Dual Brush Pens for a change. There's loads of color combinations, but I thought the pop of pink and purple would be fab! I used Rubine Red/755, Port Red/757 and Dark Plum/679.

I used a die from the Simon Says Stamps Nested Circle Dies to get the shape of my circle and Tim Holtz Distress Watercolor Paper. Any Watercolor Paper would work, but I love the bright white of this particular paper.

You could do this same technique with Masking Paper, your favorite ink pads and Ranger Mini Blending Tools too! I'll have links below for what I would recommend if you would like to try this.

You have a couple of options for you image. You could trace your circle, stamp your image, then use the Liquid Frisket just as I did in the VIDEO. You wouldn't have a border around your image if you did it this way, but that would just as good.  You could simply watercolor the entire circle, stamp your image, then die cut it out with the coordinating die as well.

I looove  a one layer card and I liked the not so crisp white outline around my image, so I went this route.

I also decided that I wanted to Copic color in the hat. Be sure to check out the video to see how I did that. There's lots of options there too. You could watercolor or use colored pencils as well.

I kept the finishing touches really simple. I went with a heat embossing in Simon Says Stamp Silver Embossing Powder for the stars and the sentiment. I used Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Black Soot for the paint splatters and I have a tip on that in the VIDEO so check that out! And last, but certainly not least Spectrum Noir Clear Overlay and Sakura Clear Glaze for the ribbon on the hat.

That's it! Easy peasy.

As always, I sure hope you enjoyed my card today and THANKS SO MUCH for stopping by!

Until next time.
