Masking Simon Says Stamp Stencil and Newton's Nook Love Grows

Hey folks!

I'm back today to share the follow up to the card I shared with you all the other day.

I gotta be honest, I write this with a heavy heart. I don't feel funny or witty, I am just simply heartbroken. I'm sure most of you have heard of the tragedy with Heidi Swapp and her family. I just posted some info regarding a card drive for the Swapp Family, if you have not yet seen any of this information or if you have and need the address. You can also visit Jennifer McGuire's page. She has the information on there as well.

I have seen the impact of this type of tragedy on a family and it's devastating, heartbreaking and so hard to comprehend. All I can think about right now is them and how can I help in my own small way. I've got a billion ideas and until I can get myself mentally organized, I thought I'd write.

Ok. So. I posted a couple days ago a card I made using Newton's Nook Love Grows Stamp Set and the Simon Says Stamp Diagonal Stripe Stencil. I had also mentioned that I would share another soon. So my peeps, here it is.

If you're interested in any of the products I've used, I will have thumbnail links for you at the end of the post!

I was on Pinterest a few weeks ago and came across a Pin of this amazing DIY Backgammon Game Board. It immediately put me in ming of the Hourglass Stencil from Simon Says Stamp.

To start with, I took the Hourglass Stencil and traced the triangles with a pencil on some Inkadinkado Stamping Mask Paper and cut them out. I then lined up the Hourglass Stencil on a piece of Neenah White Cardstock and placed the Masks over the openings in the Stencil. I pulled up the Stencil and shifted it over. Then I went over it with Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz Metallic Pigment Ink and a Ranger Ink Blending Tool.

For the Gold Layer behind the stenciled Layer, I used the same Ranger Ink Blending Tool and Tsukineko Delicata Golden Glitz Metallic Pigment Ink  on another piece of Neenah White Cardstock and just added ink around the edges that would be seen.

I colored the Roses and Leaves from the Love Grows Stamp Set by Newton's Nook with a Zig Clean Color Real Brush Pens on Ranger Distress Watercolor Cardstock and fussy cut them out instead of masking them this time.

I attached them to a Circle I had cut out using a Stitched Circle Die by Simon Says Stamp with Scotch Mounting Tape so they would pop up off it. I also die cut two more circles with the same die set and stamped the Sentiment with Simon Says Black Ink. To help tie in the gold in the background, I filled in the "U" with a gold gel pen.

There is so much going on that I kept the embellishments to a minimum. I added some drops of  Ranger Glossy Accents and some DMC Metallic GOLD Embroidery Thread and that was that.

That's it for now peeps.

Do be sure to show the Swapp Family some love. I know they can use al of the support they can get right now.

Until next time!
